The objective of this research project was to create a Monitoring Model for the Maintenance Performance Management, Energy Efficiency and Indoor Air Quality. This was a pioneer project which will be replicated to other healthcare units, as part of a strategic plan of the Portuguese Ministry of Health.
The project was a success, with the achievement of the proposed objectives of energy consumption optimization (electrical, thermal, etc.) without compromising the quality and comfort of the building and improving indoor conditions without a significant increase in energy consumption (through better management of used resources).
The main activities were:
- Energy Audit;
- Energy Simulation and Calibration model to achieve energy audit consumptions;
- Detailed energy strategies analysis assuring the IAQ and Maintenance performance;
- Measures implementation: discussion with all the key people evolved in hospital management;
- Implementation and Monitoring of the measures implemented.
